Build 27 June 2026
Launch any installed app, from any button.
Ring, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant, SwitchBot, Hue, Alexa, Google Home, Nanoleaf, Roomba, Roborock and dozens more — one tap from any remote, folder, or the desktop.
- Pick from your actual installed apps. Open the button editor, tap Find Apps on This Device, and the picker scans your phone or tablet and lists every launchable app you have. Pick one, save the button, done. Works on every canvas — desktop icons, folder buttons, remote buttons, and inside macros.
- Manual deep-link entry for anything not in the list. Tap Enter URL Manually in the picker, paste any app URL or Android intent link, hit Use This URL. Apps without a public scheme — Tuya devices, exotic vacuums, niche IoT gear — all work this way. The Test button right there lets you confirm before saving.
- Smart-home focus. The built-in picker already knows about 23 home-automation and IoT apps — SwitchBot, SmartThings, Home Assistant, Ring, Nest / Google Home, Hue, Alexa, Wyze, Arlo, Blink, Ecobee, LIFX, Nanoleaf, IFTTT, Tuya, Smart Life, Mi Home, Kasa, Wemo, Lutron, Roomba, Roborock — so the common ones are one tap away with no URL hunting.
- Crash-proof. Dangerous URL types (
javascript:,file://,data:,vbscript:) are rejected before they reach the system launcher. A typo or a malformed deep link can't knock the app to the background or freeze the screen. If something isn't installed, you get a clear "Not installed" message and the app keeps going.

Version History
Every build, in order. Buy once — get every one of these for free.
Live video, refined across every canvas.
IP cameras, NVR feeds, go2rtc bridges and live web streams now play smoothly as full-screen wallpapers behind your buttons — every remote, every folder, the desktop.
- Smart stream routing. The app auto-picks the best player for each URL: native engine for HLS / DASH / static video, inline browser video for go2rtc live MP4, dedicated MJPEG pipeline for motion-jpeg cameras, full WebView page for sites.
- MJPEG and live MP4 — first-class. go2rtc, Frigate, Shinobi, IP Webcam, MotionEye, ZoneMinder, bare IP cams — all play full-screen without conversion.
- Local-network HTTP, properly handled. LAN URLs like
http://192.168.1.100now load reliably without HTTPS — go2rtc, Frigate, Home Assistant, Hue bridge, camera web UIs all work. - RTSP and exotic stream URLs. Direct rtsp:// / rtmp:// / rtp:// / udp:// show a friendly placeholder with go2rtc guidance instead of a silent failure.
- Learn All wizard reads every label. Picks up Smart IR Label on every button so photo-style remotes show the actual name — "Power", "Vol +" — not "Unnamed Button". Transparent buttons get an outline in the preview.
- Crash protection across every stream format. Every URL is classified before any native player sees it. Bad URLs render a placeholder; the activity never goes to background.
Transparency, refined across every surface.
Photo to Remote wallpapers now blend cleanly with your desktop, folders, and other remotes — every device, every orientation.
- Buttons stay glued to the photo, on every device. The renderer reads each wallpaper's true pixel dimensions from its filename — no drift on Android tablets, no surprises after rotation, no guesswork when sharing .irc files between phones and tablets.
- Full image, every orientation. Photo to Remote remotes now letterbox cleanly. Tablet portrait no longer crops the top of the photo — the full remote is visible on phone, tablet, landscape, portrait, every time.
- Canvas Background color picker. Pick what shows through your photo's transparent margins — transparent to let the parent wallpaper through, black for a clean dark frame, or any of the 29 palette colors used throughout the app.
- Inline color and shape picker for blank buttons. Add Buttons → Single Blank Button now has 9 quick colors and two shapes right there — pick, tap, drop. Default gray rounded preserved.
- Hide Wallpaper on Timeout. Photo-style remotes can now fade out the photo along with the buttons. Toggle per remote. Decorative wallpapers keep the classic behavior.
- Size dial works on every preset. The button-size scaler now applies to the Single Blank Button too — 200% really means 200% everywhere.
Photo to Remote — in seconds, two ways.
Snap a photo on the web. Pick a template in the app. Either way, you're done in under a minute.
- Online Remote Builder — Photo to Remote, in seconds. The web builder at readyware.net/remote/online_editor.html got a one-click 📸 Photo to Remote button at the top. Drop a photo of any remote in as the wallpaper, right-click anywhere on the canvas to place transparent buttons over each visible button, drag to position, drag the corner to resize. Every button comes smart-labeled so the Smart IR Wizard auto-programs them straight from the 950,000+ code database.
- App — Photo to Remote template added to Create Remote. Tap Create Remote in the app and you'll find a fourth template choice alongside TV, Set-Top Box, and Blank: Photo to Remote. Pick it, name it, tap Create — you get a universal remote photo wallpaper with 32 transparent buttons pre-aligned over each visible button, all smart-labeled. Open the Smart IR Wizard and watch every standard button auto-fill.
- Three ways to start in the online builder. Choose Upload a Photo for any remote you have on hand, Use Generic Template for an instant universal-style remote, or Add to Current Remote to drop smart-labeled transparent buttons on top of any remote you've already built. The third path is perfect for landscape custom layouts where you just want to add wizard-ready buttons quickly.
- Transparent wallpaper baked into the app. The new template image ships inside the install package itself, so the feature works offline. No download, no fetch, no waiting.
- Right-click auto-label cycle in the online builder. While in Photo to Remote mode in the web editor, right-click on the canvas to choose between adding a blank transparent button or an auto-labeled one. The auto-label option cycles through 34 canonical button names in the order most remotes use them.
Faster to build. Easier to dial in.
The "add a button" experience, refined into a real workflow.
- Improved button-add picker — full transport, soft keys, and round keys. Add Buttons now has a complete Transport row (Skip Back, Rewind, Play, Pause, Stop, Fast Forward, Skip Forward) in Mute orange, four teal soft keys for hotkeys, and four soft-purple round keys for command rows.
- Built-in button-size scaler. A new Button Size dial at the top of Add Buttons steps from 50% to 200% in 10% increments. Bump up before adding to a tablet, scale down for a TV — the whole set lands at the size you wanted.
- Smart IR Wizard auto-fills the new sets. Every transport button comes pre-tagged with its smart label (Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind, Fast Fwd) so the wizard recognizes and programs them straight from the 950,000+ code database.
- Blank button is actually blank. The Single Button preset drops in with no placeholder label — style it, label it, or leave it clean.
- Improved Set Active flow across every transmitter type. Saved iTach devices now get a Set Active button on the row, matching BroadLink, USB IR, Onboard IR, and Bluetooth IR.
- Refined IR learning — clean waveform on every fresh button. Open the Signal Editor on a blank button and the waveform view starts clean, every time.
Smart Home, Bigger. Hardware, Open.
Every SwitchBot Hub. Bluetooth IR pairing. Plus open-hardware plans for a $8 DIY blaster of your own.
- Full SwitchBot Hub family — Mini, Hub 2, Hub 3, Hub Plus. One account, every hub, every virtual remote, every scene. Add the account once, your buttons fire SwitchBot commands across the family. Smart Matching, Select Manually, DIY remotes — all supported. Macros mix SwitchBot commands with IR signals, web hooks, app launches, and folder navigation on a single tap.
- Improved button picker remembers your color theme. Add Buttons now pulls the menu accent color so previews preview-true. Single Button, Number Pad, D-Pad, Volume, Channel, Power — all stay aligned with the canvas you're working in.
- Refined Bluetooth IR pairing flow. Discover, pair, and save Bluetooth IR dongles right inside Settings → Device Setup → Bluetooth. The transport works perfectly on both Android and iOS. Set Active, swap mid-session, every canvas honors the change.
- New: Build Your Own IR Blaster — open hardware, $8 in parts. A complete community build guide on readyware.com. ESP32-C3 SuperMini (or ESP8266 D1 Mini), one IR LED, a 3D-printed case, open-source BroadLink-compatible firmware. Smaller than a BroadLink RM Mini. No DRM. No vendor lock-in. The day you finish soldering, READYWARE finds it as a regular BroadLink device.
- Improved hardware honesty across the site. Updated help, FAQ, and main pages clearly point to the proven hardware paths: WiFi BroadLink, USB-C IR dongles, the new DIY route — plus the experimental Bluetooth IR for early testers.
The Size Dial You Didn't Know You Had.
Did you know? Changing your wallpaper size makes buttons and icons bigger or smaller — without changing the layout.
- Wallpaper size is your icon-size dial — now documented end-to-end. Smaller wallpaper image = bigger icons on screen. Larger wallpaper = smaller icons. Same layout, same button positions, different scale. Full reference chart for tablets, TVs, and phones in the new Style Guide tab — landscape and portrait both covered.
- Improved iTach saved-list — Set Active where you'd expect it. Multiple iTach devices on the same network? Tap the one you want, set it active, fire signals. Same row UI as BroadLink, USB IR, Onboard IR, and Bluetooth IR. One pattern across every transmitter type.
- Improved cross-device portability with stale-id fallback. Share an .irc remote built on one phone, load it on another phone with different saved transmitters? READYWARE picks up the right transmitter type automatically. Your buttons fire on the new phone too.
- Improved help and FAQ coverage. Both pages now link directly into the Style Guide for design tips, sizing references, and the open hardware guide.
Edit From Any Browser. Push to Every Device.
Build remotes on the big screen. They show up on the small one in real time.
- Edit your remotes in any web browser. Open the Web Viewer on a desktop, drag buttons around with a real mouse, edit labels with a real keyboard. The phone in the living room updates the moment you save.
- Improved live push to every paired device. Edit settings on one screen, see them apply on every screen connected to your account. Wallpapers, layouts, button positions, color themes — all synced.
- Improved scope-based sync. Per-remote settings sync to the remote. Per-canvas settings sync to the canvas. Per-account settings sync everywhere. No accidental overwrites of your living-room layout from your bedroom phone.
Transparent Backgrounds, Layered Right.
Open a remote on top of the desktop and you see the desktop right through it. Open one inside a folder and you see the folder.
- Improved transparent open-remote background. Open a remote with a transparent background and the canvas beneath it — desktop or folder — shows through naturally. Buttons live on the remote. Background lives on the canvas underneath. Both render perfectly.
- Improved overlay layering across all three canvas types. Desktop, folder, remote — each composes correctly with whatever sits behind it. Video wallpapers, photo wallpapers, solid colors, transparent stacks — all play nicely with the buttons up front.
- Improved touch passthrough on transparent layers. Tap a button on a transparent remote → IR fires. Tap empty space → that tap reaches the canvas underneath. Use your transparent remote on top of a video feed and the video keeps playing where the buttons aren't.
Headers Float. Wallpapers Stretch.
Headers stay where you can reach them. Wallpapers fill the screen they're on.
- Improved folder canvas header — pinned to the top, always reachable. The folder header floats above the canvas so it's always tappable, even with a tall remote layout filling the screen below.
- Improved wallpaper rendering across the full canvas. Live wallpapers, photo wallpapers, animated GIFs — every wallpaper type now fills the canvas under the header without weird offsets or scroll jumps.
- Improved canvas pass-through under scrollable areas. Even when a canvas scrolls, taps on empty space still fall through to the layer beneath when transparency is enabled.
Wake With a Tap. Stay Out of the Way.
Overlays that disappear when you don't need them — and come right back when you do.
- Improved overlay timeout-wake. Set your overlay to fade after a few minutes? It comes right back the moment you tap. No swipe-up, no relaunch, no losing your place.
- Improved cross-app overlay behavior. Watching Netflix, browsing photos, on a video call — the overlay floats above whatever you're doing and fires IR signals without stealing focus from the app underneath.
- Improved canvas wake gestures. A single tap brings a faded overlay back to full opacity instantly. Tap again on a button — IR fires.
One Layout. Every Screen.
Build it on a 7-inch tablet. Open it on a 95-inch TV. Same buttons in the same places.
- Portrait and landscape — both first-class. Flip your tablet sideways and the buttons stay where you put them. No reflow, no shuffle, no "oh that broke the layout."
- The remote you build is the remote everyone sees. Genuinely locked to the canvas you designed. Phone, tablet, or browser. Every time.
- RF learning got smarter on the first try. 315 MHz, 433 MHz, 868 MHz — finds the right band without you guessing.
- 250,000 new IR and RF codes added. Ceiling fans, RF outlets, blinds, motorized projector screens, garage doors, gates — the obscure stuff databases curated from spec sheets keep missing.
Every Browser. Every Camera. Every Canvas.
Wait — my browser is the remote? And my baby cam is the wallpaper?
- Every web browser is now a remote control. Open the Web Viewer on anything that renders HTML. Fire IR.
- Live video and stream wallpapers — across all three canvases. Desktop, folder, remote — set a different live feed on each. Kitchen tablet shows the front porch. Bedroom shows the baby cam. Garage shows the driveway. They all also fire IR.
- Web Viewer button timeout, reworked. Buttons fade — wallpaper stays visible and interactive.
- Overlay timeout stays active while you scroll a webpage wallpaper. Doesn't drop you out.
- Active Device card at the top of Device Setup. Big, clear, identical for USB, BroadLink, phone IR, or iTach.
One Remote. Every Blaster.
The bedroom TV fires upstairs. The living room fires downstairs. Same remote.
- Multi-transmitter support. Different buttons fire through different blasters. Bedroom TV through the upstairs BroadLink, living room TV through a USB blaster downstairs — all from one custom remote.
- Smart IR Wizard, one-tap programming. Pick brand, pick model, the code lands on the button. Done.
- Custom buttons, custom icons, custom wallpapers. Use any image you have.
- FAQ and Help docs polished. Hardware section, IR/RF section, troubleshooting flows for offline devices, and the "I don't have the original remote" path that funnels you straight into Smart IR.
The Universal Translator.
Free. In any browser. No account. People sell entire products that do less than this.
- The IR/RF Signal Editor went online. Started as an editor for the app. We put it on the web. Now it converts every IR format anyone's ever used — Pronto hex, LIRC, Flipper Zero, BroadLink, Global Caché, Arduino raw timings. Paste any of them in, get any of them back out. Free. No account.
- Database revival. An old archive of remote codes — partially corrupted, scattered, incompletely indexed — got rescued, deduplicated, normalized, and folded back in. Hundreds of thousands of codes returned to the wild.
- Live wallpapers go full URL. RTSP stream, HLS feed, HTTP camera, MP4 clip, YouTube live URL — point it at anything. Watch the front porch. Fire the porch light from a button on top of it.
- All features unlocked. Buy once. Everything included. No subscription. No upsell. No "premium tier" gating the parts you actually need.
Build a Remote in Your Browser.
No app. No account. Just drag, drop, save, fire.
- The Online Remote Builder. Sit at your desktop, open the Builder, drag and drop your buttons, drop in custom icons, set custom wallpapers, save it as an .irc file, send it to your phone, open it. Done. Same layout, same buttons, fired through your blasters at home.
- One file format — .irc — everywhere. Works in the app. Works in the Online Builder. Works in the Web Viewer. Same file. Every device. Public domain standard, not a proprietary lock-in.
- Smart Codes Wizard inside the Builder. Add IR codes directly while you're designing. Now backed by the largest database on the internet.
- BroadLink learning timing tightened. Fewer "did it learn?" double-presses on noisy WiFi.
- Universal screen fit. Works on every screen size. Demo profile reworked.
Floats on Top of Netflix.
Watching a movie? The remote stays right there. Change the volume. Kill the ceiling fan.
- System-Wide Overlay. READYWARE floats on top of any other app. Watching Netflix? Your remote overlay stays right there. Change the volume or turn off the ceiling fan without leaving the app you're in.
- Home Automation Bridge. Control Zigbee, Z-Wave, HomePro and other non-IR ecosystems side-by-side with your IR/RF devices. Built-in HTTP action bridge to Home Assistant, SmartThings, or Hubitat.
- Smart IR Wizard — one-tap program. Tap any button, run the wizard, pick your brand, code is instantly assigned, saved, ready to fire.
- Default Remote Templates — improved portrait and landscape layouts. Flip the tablet anytime, buttons stay perfectly on screen.
- Adaptive Device Setup. Big, clear Active Device card at the top — works the same no matter which transmitter type you're using.
- Cross-browser polish. Safari, Firefox, Edge, Brave, the weird ones too. If it can render HTML, it can be a remote.
Multi-Device. Smart IR Upgrade.
One tap. Different transmitter. The remote doesn't care which one is in the room.
- Active Device Switching. Set any transmitter as your active device on the fly. BroadLink, USB IR, built-in phone IR, iTach WiFi — one tap to switch.
- Multi-Transmitter Support. Assign different buttons to different transmitters from the same remote.
- USB IR Blaster — verified plug-and-play. FLIRC USB, Irdroid v3, USB UIRT, generic HID, CH341/CH340, CP210x.
- RF Learning expanded. Latest BroadLink RM4 Pro firmware revisions. 315 MHz, 433 MHz, 868 MHz bands.
- Smart IR/RF Database crossed 600,000 free codes — already the largest free IR/RF library on the web.
Web Viewer Goes Live.
Your wallpaper stays. The buttons fade. The remote disappears into the screen.
- Web Viewer — website wallpapers now load correctly in the browser.
- Button timeout hides icons; wallpaper stays visible and interactive underneath.
- Overlay timeout stays active while you scroll webpage wallpapers.
- 80,000+ new IR signals added — ONN, Coby, and hundreds of new brands.
- All features unlocked. Buy once, everything included. No subscription.
The Overlay Update.
Control from any browser. Real wallpapers. Real time.
- Web Viewer — control from any browser with real wallpapers in real time.
- USB IR blaster support with manual add option.
- Canvas scaling — fits any screen size automatically.
- Improved demo profile with GIF wallpapers.
- Profile load no longer affects premium status or Web Viewer.
- 350,000+ IR signals — already the largest database of downloadable remotes on the internet.
174,000 Codes Recovered.
An old, almost-lost code archive came back from the dead.
- 174,000 codes recovered from a partially corrupted archive and folded back into the database. The salvage effort that's still going.
- Web Viewer — browser control with real wallpapers in real time.
- Canvas scaling fixed — now fits any screen size automatically.
- Database total now 240,000+ codes — and the salvage operation is still going.
The .irc Standard. The Beginning.
The world needed an open IR standard. Now it has one.
- The .irc file format. READYWARE .irc files store the raw physics of IR and RF signals — pulse timings in microseconds — making every remote you build immune to hardware changes, company shutdowns, and platform lock-in. Forever.
- Full custom canvas IR and RF remote control — both Smart and Learning. One canvas. Every signal type.
- Electronic Personification. We didn't sit down and say "let me build a Windows IR blaster." We built a web remote — Windows compatibility just showed up, because browsers exist on every device. We didn't say "let me build a multi-room intercom." We built a remote that runs on any tablet, phone, or browser — the intercom showed up, because microphones exist. We didn't say "let me build a security camera monitor with controls." We built a live wallpaper — the camera feed showed up, because URLs exist. Every one of those things is something somebody else built an entire product around. Spent years on it. Charged a subscription. Ours just has it. Because the device already had it. We just got out of the way.
READYWARE updates are free for life. Buy once, get every future version. Updates deliver automatically through Google Play and the App Store — including every build above and every one to come. No subscription. No upsell. No "premium tier."
